Levi’s Jeans Fit Guide | What to Buy Based on Your Shape & Size

If you’ve ever stared at a wall of Levi’s jeans and thought, “What’s the difference between Ribcage and Dad jeans again?” you’re not alone. Levi’s has so many styles and fits that it can be overwhelming to figure out which one is right for you. Over the years, I’ve tried a bunch of them… some I loved, some not-so-much, but along the way, I’ve learned what works best for different shapes and sizes.

In this post, I’m breaking down the most popular Levi’s fits, what makes each one unique, and which body types they tend to flatter most. Whether you’re looking for something with stretch, a high rise that actually stays put, or that classic straight leg style, this guide will help you figure out which pair of Levi’s to try first or add next to your closet.

For reference: I am 5’3 115lbs

If I had to recommend just one pair of Levi’s, it would definitely be the Ribcage Straight Ankle. The high rise hits in all the right places, especially around the waist and hips, before relaxing through the leg for a flattering, comfortable fit. With 85% cotton, these jeans have a bit more stretch, making them super comfortable without compromising that classic Levi’s structure. I recommend sizing down since they’re on the stretchier side. The ankle length is perfect for showcasing everything from sneakers to heels, and the vintage-inspired style adds a touch of polish to any outfit.

Best for: Hourglass and pear-shaped bodies, especially with a longer torso, this super high rise flatters curves and elongates the legs.

2. Distressed Ribcage Straight Ankle : Size 25

These high-rise jeans offer the same flattering fit as the classic Ribcage Straight, but with a little added edge. The rips give them a relaxed, lived-in vibe, while the ankle-length cut shows off your shoes. The fit is tight through the hips and thighs, then loosens up at the knees for a comfortable, easy fit. This pair is made with 100% cotton, so they have less stretch. Because of the lower amount of stretch, I recommend sizing up for a better fit.

Best for: Those with a longer torso!

2. Cinch Baggy Carpenter Pants: Size 25

I’m wearing the Cinch Baggy Carpenter Pants in a size 25, and I love how roomy and comfortable they are while still giving a flattering shape. These are definitely a longer fit, perfect with heels or a slight platform. The cinching detail at the waist is everything if you’re like me and love a more snatched, clean look without sacrificing the wide-leg vibe. They’re cool, casual, and different from your average denim, but still feel really wearable.

Best for: All body types, especially great if you like a relaxed fit with a cinched waist for shape.

3. Dad Jeans: Size 26

These mid-rise jeans are relaxed through the hips and thighs with a classic straight-leg silhouette. I’m wearing a size 26, and they’re the perfect balance of roomy but not too baggy.

Best for: Athletic or straight body types, or anyone looking for a relaxed yet flattering fit.

These jeans feature a higher waist that hugs the hips and thighs before flaring out below the knee for that classic bell-bottom silhouette. The long length pairs beautifully with heels or boots, giving you a tall and elongated look. The size 25 fits snug and flattering, making these a fun, retro-inspired piece to add to your collection.

Best for: Taller frames or those with longer torsos who want to emphasize their waist and create an hourglass shape.

5. High Waisted Mom Jeans: Size 25

These mom jeans are loose around the hips and butt, giving a relaxed, easygoing fit, especially for those with a straighter figure. If you’re curvier, these jeans may hug your curves more, offering a slightly more structured look. The high-waisted design is flattering and adds definition while still giving you that laid-back vibe. Size 25 fits true to size for a comfortable yet stylish fit.

Best for: Those with a straighter figure who want a relaxed fit, or curvier figures looking for a more structured, form-fitting look.

6. 726 High Rise Flare Jeans: Size 25

These flare jeans are fitted from the waist to the knee, then flare out for a flattering, vintage-inspired look. The high-rise fit accentuates the waist, while the flare gives it that retro vibe. They’re perfect for dressing up or down, and the material has just the right amount of stretch for comfort. Size 25 fits true to size for a sleek and polished look.

Best for: Those with an hourglass shape or anyone who loves a retro, 70s-inspired silhouette.

7. Wedgie Straight Jeans: Size 25

These jeans have the perfect amount of structure to give you a flattering, lifted look. With a snug fit at the waist and hips and a straight leg, they offer a vintage-inspired look that’s both stylish and comfortable. The Wedgie Straight is perfect for showing off curves and fits true to size. The material has just enough stretch for all-day wear.

Best for: Curvy bodies or those with an hourglass figure looking for a flattering, high-waisted fit.

8. Ribcage Straight Full Length Jeans: Size 25

These jeans offer the perfect high-rise fit, sitting comfortably at your natural waist and offering a sleek, straight-leg silhouette. The full length makes them great for pairing with heels or boots, while the rigid denim gives them a structured feel without sacrificing comfort. The Ribcage Straight gives you a clean, tailored look that can easily be dressed up or down.

Best for: Tall bodies or those with longer legs, as the full length offers extra coverage and pairs well with heels.

No matter your body shape or style preference, Levi’s offers a jean for every occasion and every figure. From the high-rise comfort of the Ribcage to the relaxed vibe of the Dad Jean, there’s a perfect fit waiting for you. Whether you’re going for a classic, timeless look or a more modern twist with some flair or rips, these jeans offer endless versatility. Take your time finding the right cut that flatters your body shape, and don’t forget to have fun styling them with your favorite tops and shoes!
