4 ways to get wax out of a candle jar

What do you do with your pretty candle jars once the candle is all gone? Don't toss them; reuse them! Use these 4 ways to get the wax out.

GET AS MUCH OUT AS YOU CAN FIRST

To start, remove as much wax as possible with a butter knife. Then use one of these 4 methods to get the rest out.

FREEZE IT

Put the jar into the freezer for a few hours. Then just pop the wax out or use a butter knife to gently break it up!

1

ADD BOILING  WATER

Gently pour boiling water into the container covering all of the leftover wax. Let it cool and simply strain the wax out.

2

MAKE A DOUBLE BROILER

Place your candle jars in a pot. Pour boiling water in the pot so it covers the sides of the jars but doesn't go inside. Use a butter knife to pull the wax away from the sides.

3

USE THE OVEN

Place your candle upside down onto a foil-lined cookie sheet. Put it in the oven at 200°F for 15 minutes. Lift the jar with an oven mitt and remove any wax.
