We’ve lived in our home for about 2.5 years now and we’re slowly making the space work for us. We’re finally wallpapering the powder bathroom, moving all the furniture around in our basement, etc. I tend to have the mindset of investing in the staples (couches, dining room table set, etc) and make do with what we already own until we figure out exactly what we want to do. Then I don’t feel the urge to buy a ton of things that may not work 6 months down the road!
The office was something we didn’t really have anything for when we moved in. Neither one of us had offices in our condos so we had to buy quite a few things for it right off the bat. We found a simple vintage desk at an antique store down the street that was really inexpensive and super fun so we decided to start with that. We also picked up a dresser at another one of the vintage shops to hold my inventory (and it also matched another dresser that is in our entryway), a simple white shelf for more inventory and the rest of the stuff in the office (file cabinet, pink side table, most of the gallery wall) were things we already owned.
This is what it looks like now (don’t mind the mess – this is far from staged!).
As the years have passed the way I use the office has changed, I also got a desktop computer that takes up over half of my tiny desk (ha!) and we’re ready for something different.
While Rishi was off of work around the holidays we moved around all the furniture for a brand new look and feel and searched high and low for a new desk for the space.
What we landed on was this one!!
It’s abit of a splurge for me but it’s the perfect size and it’s the right amount of class mixed with uniqueness that I’m in love with.
I used that to plan out the rest of the room. Here is the mood board!
We’ve ordered the desk and the chair and once the desk arrives we’ll finalize what stays in the room and what leaves depending on the colors. We may swap the dresser for one in the guest bedroom. It happens to be my grandma’s that I painted like the one above! I’ll likely swap out some of the pieces in the gallery wall and restyle the shelf.
Be sure to keep an eye on Instagram for more sneak peeks while we work on the room!
