One of my absolute favorite things that I do is the Minne Mama Meetups! Together with Meghan Yancy, we put on a night JUST for mamas. No kids allowed (unless of course they don’t take a bottle yet) so moms can have a night all to themselves to connect with other moms, take time for themself and enjoy some yummy food and maybe even a glass of wine or two! π
This is the 3rd Mom Meetup that I’ve done (check out a recap of a previous one here). It started as a small gathering of a few ladies that Michelle Raven and I got together, followed by an even larger gathering a few months later (again with Michelle, who has since moved on to other fun adventures – follow her on IG for all things thrifting!!) and now an every other month soiree at amazing venues all around town!
Meghan joined in on the fun to plan the 3rd meetup and it has been so fun doing this with her! Our last meetup was at Highbrow, a beautiful salon in North Loop that specializes in microblading. We had Jamie from So Happy You Liked It cater the food and Meghan and I supplied the drinks. We also had amazing giveaways from a ton of different vendors:
- Chocolate + wine basket from Baskets a laβ Kimmy (valued at $50)
- Essential Oil Package from Meghan Yancy (valued at $50)
- Microblading session Giftcard from Highbrow Studio (worth $200)
- Photography Mini Session from Samantha Gades (valued at $200 – must be within 30 mile radius of MPLS otherwise 30 cents per mile beyond that)
- Herbal Sitz bath from Birth Twin Cities
- 4 tickets to
Disney on ice (valued at $140) - $50 BeautyCounter Package by Megan Larson
So, what actually happens at a Minne Mama Meetup? Here’s the inside scoop.

First, you arrive wearing whatever you feel best in. It can be a dress, leggings, or anything in between. There’s no rules – we want you to feel comfortable!
Second, you grab a drink (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic options are available) and some food. We aim for finger foods to make things easier for you. π
Third, you say hi to a fellow mom (or wait until I grab you and say hi because I love meeting new friends). There are many moms who come alone so you’re definitely not the only one if all your friends are booked! We usually spend the first 30 minutes getting everyone checked in and letting people mix and mingle.
Then we break out into small groups of 8-10. Each group has a “facilitator” who has a few questions to help guide the conversation. This is your opportunity to share whatever it is you want to share! This past meetup we talked about the best and hardest parts of motherhood and also what is something you can do tomorrow to make the hard thing easier.
Each group has different conversations depending on who is in them! My group happened to be full of entrepreneurs so we spent some time chatting about how to “do it all” as a mom and a business owner, sharing tips and tricks we’ve all learned.
Our time is wrapped up by doing giveaways (woohoo!) and taking some fun photos! We had an amazing photographer, Samantha Gades, at the last one, and another incredible one lined up for our January event!
Our hope is that you leave feeling refreshed, renewed and not so alone. Being a mom is amazing and hard and often times lonely and we want to encourage you and help you feel not only like you’re not alone but also remind you that you’re doing an amazing job.
Each meetup is slightly different and we have a few things up our sleeve for our January event the idea is the same. Gather moms together. Encourage them connect with one another. Give them to share their thoughts. Shower them with love (and a few giveaways too).
Meghan and I are SO excited for our next meetup, which is at one of my favorite spots, Tonkadale! It’s a greenhouse in Minnetonka. Imagine yourself surrounded by green plants in a warm environment on a January night. Amazing right?! π We truly hope to see you there! Get your ticket here!
