One of the perks of doing Rent the Runway (check out my review here) is that I get to try clothes that I wouldn’t necessarily purchase! These pants are one of those things (although they were so fun to wear and I got so many compliments on them, that I’m tempted to keep them).
To be honest though, they are a little out of my comfort zone! I’m a skinny jeans kinda girl and long, flowy pants in burnt orange are not my norm. However, I’m always up for trying a new trend at least once (like when I wore this crazy shirt haha!).
I’m sure you’ve seen a trend or 2 going around on Instagram or Pinterest that you want to try but just can’t seem to pull the trigger. Maybe it’s an off the shoulder top or a pair of overalls – you’re an admirer form afar but need a little bit of a push to try it out. Well here’s your push! 🙂 Here are some tips when you want to try out a new trend but are feeling a little nervous about it.
1. Don’t care what anyone else thinks.
Let’s be real. This can be harder said than done. However…strangers are probably not even paying attention to what you’re wearing (unless you’re having a wardrobe malfunction or wearing something Lady Gaga would wear). And your friends will tell you yay or nay when they see you show up in something new (at least, they SHOULD!).
Unless they’re paying your bills, don’t care about what they think. 😉 If you put something on and like what you see, wear it!

2. Pair it with something you love.
These pants are a little crazy. Or maybe a lotta bit crazy. To tone it down just a little bit I paired it with favorite plant lady shirt because I always feel good in it! If you’re wearing a dress, wear your favorite shoes or accessory. Wearing a crazy top? Put on your favorite bottoms! Pair that new thing that feels a little uncomfortable with something you feel amazing in.
3. Give it a test run.
Still not sure if you can wear something? Don’t wear it to the office for the day. There’s nothing worse than being at work for a full day and absolutely hating your outfit. Give it a test run! Wear it to brunch with your girlfriends, to Target when you run errands or even just around the house.
I’m not a big hat girl so when I bought this hat I wore it around the house for a few hours to get used to it. The first time I wore it out in public I felt way more comfortable since I had given myself a few hours to try it out!
Life’s too short to not have fun and try new things.
Try new trends, wear something out of your comfort zone and just have fun with it!
What’s something you’ve been wanting to try but nervous to actually wear? Let me know, I’d love to hear!
Thanks so much for reading and sharing!
